Geography! Day 1
Day 1 Cardigan Mountain Orange, NH 10/4/17
The most exciting part of day one was going on the nightwalk in the woods with Josh and my group. There was a full moon!! Shortly after we came out of the AMC lodge, we saw the full moon, which lit up the parking lot. Josh then blind folded each one of us and we stood in a conga line with our hand on the shoulders of the person in front of us. Josh was in front and we had to follow him. It was hard without being able to see so we used our feeling in our feet and our ears to listen. We had to bring our sleeping bags. The lodge was pretty much in the middle no where. There were no other buildings around. There were huge solar panels there. The whole place was powered by solar.
When we got into the forest, we played some awesome games. Some of these games tested our hearing and sense of direction. We also talked about how different animals hear things. For example, the owl's ears are offset by a little bit so it can hear high and low noises. Lastly, Josh asked us to spread out in the woods quietly for ten minutes. I liked it. It was fun to listen to the sounds in the forest we heard birds and owls. There were other mountains around us. There were plants there and trees there were saw toothed aspen there.
